All schools of the Durham Catholic District School Board are pleased to be participating in our third annual First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Awareness Month. During this month we will focus on school wide and classroom based activities to promote the infusion of indigenous perspectives across the curriculum. We are honoured to be able to celebrate the rich history, traditions and contributions of Canada's indigenous people during the month of October, and throughout the year.
In partnership with the Indigenous Education Advisory Circle, we offer students an opportunity to self-identify their indigenous ancestry. We are committed to providing quality educational programs that promote student success.
When you identify Indigenous ancestry, we learn more about our students and develop appropriate programs that reflect First Nation, Métis and Inuit cultures. Students benefit from learning about indigenous perspectives via:
