Congratulations to the Regional Arts & Media Program (AMP) students and Mr. Parker’s class at St. Joseph Catholic School for their outstanding accomplishments and achievements in the 2020 CBC Music Class Challenge.

The AMP students at All Saints Catholic Secondary School won Top Virtual Video in this year’s contest, with their entry of Alanis Morissette’s “Hand in My Pocket” and Mr. Steven Parker's class at St. Joseph Catholic School, in Oshawa placed in the top 10 for the second straight year.

“The videos are a testament our students’ God-given talent, passion and creativity to shine during these challenging times,” said Tracy Barill, Director of Education at the Durham Catholic District School Board. “Congratulations to the students and staff for promoting 21st century learning skills through creative projects”.

The Regional Arts & Media Program’s “Top Virtual Video” win was a surprise category  created during the deliberation process. Students from the Instrumental Music and Performing Arts – Vocal Music streams each practiced and recorded their part individually, due to health and safety measures in place this year.

“We are thrilled to receive this award and recognition,” said Mr. Paglia, Instrumental Music teacher with the Regional Arts & Media Program. “Each student performed their individual part remotely, which we later mixed together.” Mr. Paglia added, “I am so proud of all the students for their efforts, passion, and commitment to the arts”.
