P. Mockler, 2020 Community Service Award Winner

The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is pleased to recognize Patrick Mockler as the recipient of the 2020 Community Service Award. A retired TTC Bus driver, and a champion in community service, Mr. Mockler’s giving spirit has made a lasting impact during his time volunteering in Durham Catholic schools, the broader Catholic community, and beyond. He joyfully recalls delivering enormous amounts of popcorn to the school where his wife worked, contributing to the positive school spirit.

In the Catholic community, Mr. Mockler has served on the Knights of Columbus as the Grand Knight, District Deputy, Faith Navigator of the 4th degree, and is currently Grand Knight and Chancellor of the St. Gertrude’s Council. He is also an active member of St. Philip the Apostle.

In the broader community, Mr. Mockler has volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul for 55 years, and continues to do so every Thursday night at the food bank in Oshawa. He has been a Civilian Volunteer with the Durham Regional Police Service, where he played an active part in Safety Week; and he is currently a member of the Accessibility Committee for the City of Oshawa.

DCDSB is grateful for Mr. Mockler’s contributions within Durham Catholic schools over the years; and how he continues to make an impact in the lives of many families and individuals across the Region. Congratulations on being recognized with the 2020 Community Service Volunteer Award.
