Durham Catholic District School Board Seeks Community Input on Naming of New North Oshawa Catholic Elementary School

Posted On Monday January 21, 2019

The Durham Catholic District School Board invites the community to help select a name for the New North Oshawa Catholic Elementary School located at 2465 Bridle Road, Oshawa.

Our policy for Naming of Catholic Schools outlines the following guiding principles in the selection of a new Catholic school name:

  • The Durham Catholic District School Board realizes the symbolic significance of a school’s designation;
  • The designation of a school affords honour to the person(s) identified and conveys symbolic significance to the new school community;
  • The person(s) designated as the patron of the school will serve as a model to all students, staff and parents/guardians; and
  • The Board will consider the commitment of a person(s) (deceased) to Catholic education and/or to the general good of the school community and/or to the well-being of society.

All submissions should reflect the distinct Catholic character of education and names or places associated with the Catholic faith.
