The Durham Catholic District School Board received three BRAVO Awards for demonstrating exemplary work in school board public relations, communications, marketing and engagement. Awarded by the Canadian Association of Communicators in Education (CACE), this national recognition aligns with the strategic priority of Advancing Communications in the board’s Discovery 2020 Strategic Plan.

CACE is a national association of communication professionals committed to encouraging and enhancing excellence in communications in education. The award-winning projects include the Passport to Excellence: International Education branding project; the 2015-2016 Director’s Annual Report to the Community; and the School of the Future video project.

“This national recognition from leaders outside of our organization is a testament to the value we place on communications in our system,” said Anne O’Brien, Director of Education. “Congratulations to our communications staff for demonstrating a high level of creativity, passion and leadership.”

A panel of expert judges evaluated each project based on criteria outlined by CACE, which is based on communications strategies, implementation, evaluation and other measures. Board trustees were pleased with this honourable recognition.

“Congratulations to staff on developing award-winning communications plans and strategies,” said Chair Rinella. “We have achieved many milestones in the area of Advancing Communications which is an important priority to the Board of Trustees for strengthening relationships to enhance student achievement.”
