Information: Novel Coronavirus

Posted On Monday January 27, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The health and safety of our students and staff is a high priority for the Durham Catholic District School Board. With recent reports regarding the Novel Coronavirus, we wanted to share some important information with you.

We are working with our partners at the Durham Region Health Department and the Ministry of Health as we continue to monitor the situation closely.

Please be aware that we continue to follow standard cleaning and disinfection protocols throughout our buildings. We also remind students, staff and visitors in our schools about best practices to reduce the spread of any illnesses. These include covering your mouth and nose if you cough or sneeze, washing your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water, and staying at home if you are not feeling well.

Parents and guardians are reminded to consult their physician if they have any concerns about their child’s health and inform the school if your child has been diagnosed with Novel Coronavirus.

For more information, please refer to the attached Novel Coronavirus fact sheet from the Durham Region Health Department and Ministry of Health letter to school boards.

Sincerely,

Janine Bowyer,
Superintendent of Education
