Black History Month Celebrations Helps Students Discover the Meaning of Nia

Posted On Friday February 07, 2020

On Friday, February 7, 2020 students and staff at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic School participated in a Black History Month assembly presented by Por Amor and People Everywhere Actually Co-Existing Equally (Peace). Students were taken on a journey to find their ‘Nia’ or purpose in life. During the journey, students learned about Black history, culture, music, traditions and languages.

They were taught to listen to their intuition and discover their ‘kuumba’ or creativity and that everyone has talents and gifts to offer the world.

The theatrical and musical performance inspired students to change the world with their thoughts, words and actions, while encouraging unity because we are all God’s children.
