How do I volunteer?
The Durham Catholic District School Board recognizes and welcomes the important role of volunteers within our school communities. We are blessed to have compassionate parent, guardian and community volunteers assisting with daily school events and activities. This valued partnership is essential to creating a positive school environment for our students and staff.
Principal approved volunteers may help organize fundraising events that benefit the school, attend classroom trips, help in the classroom under the direction of an educator, or be a member of the Catholic School Council.
Become a School Volunteer
Please note that all parents, guardians and community members who wish to volunteer must complete a Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and submit the original completed document to the school office within six months of receipt. Please review the board's Criminal Records Checks and Offence Declarations Administrative Procedure (AP314-1) for more information.
Individuals who are interested in volunteering can obtain a letter from the school’s main office to access the volunteer discount rate for a Vulnerable Sector Check. This letter can be used when applying online through Durham Regional Police Service or your local police service.
Once deemed satisfactory to the board, Police Record Checks are valid for five years, with a yearly offence declaration required to maintain eligibility to volunteer in our school.

Catholic School Council
The Catholic School Council is an advisory group made up of parents/guardians and school staff. The purpose of a Catholic School Council, through the active participation of parents/guardians, is to improve student achievement and to enhance the accountability of the education process to parents.
Our Catholic School Council provides advice and support to the principal, and where appropriate, to senior administrative staff and the Board of Trustees on education matters. The advice should reflect the views of the school community.
Elections for the Catholic School Council Executive take place at the first meeting of the school year.
All parents are welcome to attend our Catholic School Council meetings and bring agenda items forward for discussion.
