About Our School

The community of All Saints Catholic Secondary School embraces the legacy of Jesus. We inspire high standards in our life-long journey of the whole, unique person within our diverse lives.

All Saints refers to and celebrates all those who have been recognized as having an exceptional degree of holiness or likeness to God. We consider their virtues as copies taken from God, the great Original. His divine life is their great example and when we honour the saints we honour and praise God who is the Author of all their good. The festivals of All Saints were established to honour God and our Blessed Redeemer Jesus Christ.

As Catholic educators, we live according to our Father's code and to lead our students, by example, to live the basic truths of the gospel message. This is an awesome, yet inspiring challenge which we share with the parents of our young men and women.

Children learn what they live. Each day we have the opportunity to teach our students:

• to love by the way we love;
• to be generous by our generosity;
• to be passionate by our compassion; and
• to be forgiving by the way we forgive.

However, a person cannot give what he or she does not have. Unless we are living the Gospel message, we cannot lead our students to do so.

There are many hallmarks of a Catholic educator, including:

• Prayer - The challenges of our vocation, and indeed life in general, are great. To meet them we need to follow Christ's advice that we "ask the father in My name". Each Catholic educator has a duty to expose students to his or her particular style of prayer in order to assist students to recognize the value of prayer in daily life.
• Eucharist - Parish, school, and staff liturgies provide opportunities to celebrate our faith. Our example can testify to the Eucharist as a joyful source of strength and community building.
• Social Justice - This is the heart of the Christian message, that we "love one another as I have loved you". As our brother's and sister's keepers, we must be concerned about the aged, the poor, the oppressed, and any other marginalized group - both at home and abroad.

Our school colours are navy blue, maroon and silver.

All Saints Catholic Secondary School opened its doors on September 4, 2001, welcoming 770 students in Grades 9 to 11. The school quickly grew, adding Grade 12 in 2002 and celebrating its first graduating class in 2003. Officially blessed and opened on November 1, 2001, by Bishop Robert Clune, All Saints has established a strong tradition of faith, academic excellence, and student achievement.

Named in honour of All Saints, the school celebrates the countless individuals whose lives reflected God's goodness through holiness, service, and faithful discipleship. The celebration of All Saints reminds the school community that the virtues of the saints are reflections of God's love and serve as examples of faith, compassion, and commitment to others.

Guided by these values, All Saints encourages students to develop their unique gifts, deepen their faith, and make meaningful contributions to their communities. In 2018, the school further expanded its educational offerings with the launch of the Regional Arts & Media Program, a specialized Grades 7-12 program that provides students from across Durham Region with unique opportunities in the arts, media, and technology. Today, All Saints Catholic Secondary School continues to foster creativity, leadership, academic excellence, and faith formation in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. 

The Solemnity of All Saints is November 1.
