Advent Message from the Chair of the Board and Director of Education

Dear Families,

As we prepare to enter the holy season of Advent this Sunday, November 30, we are invited to reflect on its profound significance within our Catholic faith. In this sacred time, we ready our hearts to once again celebrate the birth of Christ, remembering the humble circumstances of a child born in a manger, bringing light to the world. This holy season calls us to prepare with prayer and openness, embracing the virtues of hope, peace, joy, and love.

This year, our spiritual theme, Blessed are the Peacemakers (Matthew 5:9), reminds us that peace begins with each of us. Advent is not only about anticipating the birth of Jesus but also about living His message in our daily lives. We are called to be instruments of peace within our families, our schools, and our communities. Every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, and every gesture of forgiveness reflects the light of Christ and brings His peace and love to shine through us each day.

In our schools, Advent is a time of learning, prayer, and service. Students will engage in activities to deepen their faith and participate in acts of charity that bring hope to others. Many of our schools will be supporting initiatives such as the Durham Catholic Children’s Foundation, ShareLife, Feed the Need, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. These efforts remind us that peace is not just a feeling - it is action rooted in love.

As we journey together through Advent, let us keep in our hearts the promise of new beginnings and the call to be peacemakers in our world.

May this season bring you and your loved ones peace and joy.

Yours in peace and faith,
