AI Student Workshop in Partnership with Durham College
Grade 11 students from Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School recently participated in an Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop hosted by Durham College. During this interactive session, students explored the fundamentals of AI through quick, hands-on experiments. Guided by a Durham College student ambassador, they learned how to train a simple AI model using Google’s AI Machine Training platform. Students also engaged in a thoughtful discussion about ethics, bias, and the real-world implications of AI. To conclude the workshop, participants were introduced to the various AI programs and pathways available at Durham College. Overall, the experience offered students an exciting glimpse into emerging technologies and future opportunities in the field of AI.
This opportunity was made possible through funding from the Ministry of Education’s Dual Credit program, which allows high school students to take college or apprenticeship courses while earning credits toward both their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and a college diploma, certificate, or apprenticeship.
