Building Literacy Through Adventure at DCDSB’s DragonQuest Camp

Adventure, creativity and collaboration come to life at DCDSB’s DragonQuest Camp! Through immersive tabletop role-playing adventures, students are strengthening literacy skills while building confidence in storytelling, communication and critical thinking. Campers create their own characters, write detailed backstories and use descriptive writing prompts to bring fantasy worlds, magical spell effects and epic quests to life.

Campers explored world-building through mapping activities, learned how strategy and probability influence gameplay, and worked together to shape their adventures. Many students even stepped into the role of Dungeon Master, leading their peers through student-driven quests that encouraged teamwork, problem-solving and imaginative thinking.
