Celebrating Success: Young Parent School Program Graduation
On June 17, staff from Archbishop Anthony Meagher Catholic Continuing Education Centre, alongside partners from the Rose of Durham and the Director of Catholic Family Services, gathered to celebrate an important milestone. In the 2025-2026 school year, eight students successfully earned their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) through the Young Parent School Program.
The celebration recognized not only the students’ academic achievements but also their resilience, determination, and commitment to building brighter futures for themselves and their families.
The Young Parent School Program is a unique partnership between Archbishop Anthony Meagher Catholic Continuing Education Centre, Father Donald MacLellan Catholic Secondary School, and the Rose of Durham. The program is designed to meet the needs of young parents. Through this program, students are provided with the opportunity to continue their education in a flexible and nurturing environment, with the goal of completing their high school diploma.
Throughout the school year, students attended classes at the Rose of Durham every Monday and Wednesday. They were supported by a dedicated team that included a classroom teacher from Archbishop Anthony Meagher Catholic Continuing Education Centre, a guidance counsellor, and on-site counsellors from the Rose of Durham. Recognizing the realities of parenting while pursuing education, the program also offers childminding services to ensure students can focus on their learning. Students in the program have access to all the services available at the Rose of Durham.
The success of this year’s graduates demonstrates the impact of strong partnerships and a shared commitment to student success. The Young Parent School Program will continue to be offered in the upcoming school year, with continuous enrolment available to support young parents.
Congratulations to our graduates - your perseverance and achievements are truly inspiring!
