On November 19, 2025, the Region of Durham celebrated environmental leadership in sustainability and building decarbonization at the Durham Greener Buildings Awards. The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) received two awards in recognition of our commitment to sustainability and climate action.
DCDSB received the following awards:

Leadership and Sustainability Award for HVAC Operational Controls: In recognition of a 23% reduction in natural gas consumption as part of the HVAC Operational Controls Project at Good Shepherd Catholic School, St. Bernadette Catholic School and St. Wilfrid Catholic School.
-
Energy Reduction Leadership Award for K-12 School: In recognition of St. Joseph Catholic School’s (Uxbridge) outstanding leadership in reducing energy use by 29.71%, achieving measurable improvements in weather-normalized site EUI (GJ/m2) and demonstrating exceptional commitment to sustainable building performance.
