DCDSB Lenten Message
Dear DCDSB Families,
As we enter the sacred season of Lent, we are invited once again into a time of reflection, renewal, and deeper communion with God. During the Lenten season, we are called to open our hearts in preparation for the joy of Easter.
This year, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that the journey ahead is “a path to be discovered,” one that invites us to embrace God’s gentle peace in our lives. In his 2026 World Day of Peace message, Pope Leo calls all people to become witnesses of peace - within our communities, our families, and our own hearts.
Inspired by this call, the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) continues to nurture a learning community rooted in faith, compassion, peace, and hope. As we move through the 2025-2026 school year, we encourage families to embrace the Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as pathways to peace. Small acts of kindness, moments of quiet reflection, and gestures of service all help us build the “unbreakable bond with peace” that Pope Leo invites us to forge.
We remain deeply grateful for the ongoing support of our families, staff, clergy, and parish partners. Your commitment helps us create a faith-filled learning environment where students grow in faith, love, and a deep sense of belonging. Together, we continue to walk as a community grounded in Gospel values and guided by the Holy Spirit.
As we begin this Lenten season, may the peace of God fill your hearts and homes.
Yours in peace and faith,
Morgan Ste. Marie Gerard Winn
