DCDSB Seeks a Volunteer Community Member to Serve on the Audit Committee

The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is seeking a community member with financial and business expertise to serve on its Audit Committee for a three‑year term, effective immediately.

The Audit Committee is composed of three trustees and two independent members from the community. Its primary role is to assist the Board of Trustees in meeting its governance and oversight responsibilities.

The committee’s work focuses on the financial reporting process, internal control framework, risk management practices, the performance and function of the board’s internal and external auditors, and compliance with legislative obligations. The committee meets at least three times a year, with additional meetings scheduled as required. An orientation will be provided to all members to outline the roles and responsibilities of audit committees within the school board sector.

Candidate Eligibility

  • Applicants must have sufficient accounting, senior financial management or other relevant business experience to understand public-sector accounting and auditing standards.
  • Applicants must not be current employees or officers of the board, or of any other district school board or school authority.
  • Applicants must not have a parent, child or spouse who is currently employed by the board.
