DOC Chargers Embrace Electrification

On June 10, Grade 9 students at Archbishop Denis O'Connor Catholic High School in Ajax engaged in a day of hands-on, career-connected learning through the Electricity Now program.

Organized through the school’s Science Department, students explored the world of electricity through interactive activities, including circuit creation, developed by educators from Electricity Now alongside representatives from Elexicon Energy. This experiential learning opportunity connected real life to classroom concepts while highlighting applications in the skilled trades.

Electricity Now is Canada’s first national, bilingual program integrating electricity, climate change, and career exploration, developed to align with and support Ontario’s de-streamed Grade 9 Science curriculum. Through the program and hands on experiences, students not only deepened their understanding of scientific principles but also began to envision future pathways in energy and electrical careers.
