Honouring Indigenous Aid Exhibit Comes to a Close
On Monday, June 1, 2026, the Honouring Indigenous Aid Exhibit will complete its final stop at All Saints Catholic Secondary School.
First launched on March 25, 2026, the exhibit has provided meaningful opportunities for students, staff, and community members to engage in learning that honours the resilience, generosity, and compassion of local First Nations communities. The Mississaugas of Scugog Island, Curve Lake, Hiawatha, and Alderville First Nations contributed to Irish Famine relief, making this learning especially meaningful.
Beginning at Father Leo J. Austin Catholic Secondary School, the exhibit travelled to every DCDSB secondary school, giving students and staff the opportunity to learn about these acts of generosity, along with the political and social realities of the time and the lasting impact of First Nations contributions.
This initiative reflects the Durham Catholic District School Board’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, authentic learning, and honouring Indigenous excellence.
