Karl Subban Inspires Students Through the Power of Reading, Leadership and Kindness

During the week of October 28, students at St. James Catholic School and St. Patrick Catholic School had the opportunity to learn from celebrated educator, author and speaker Karl Subban. Mr. Subban engaged students through a series of presentations focused on the importance of reading, building confidence and creating positive school communities.

For Kindergarten to Grade 3 students, Mr. Subban shared his book The Hockey Skates, highlighting the value of determination, hard work and believing in oneself. Through storytelling and discussion, students focused on learning and personal growth.

Students in Grades 4 to 8 participated in an engaging anti-bullying presentation entitled “Stop Bullying: Stand Up and Be Counted.” The session challenged students to recognize the impact they can have on others and empowered them to be positive leaders within their school communities.

By promoting kindness, empathy and respect, these presentations encouraged students to participate in the creation and maintenance of welcoming and inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and supported.
