Mayor Roy Visits St. Paul Catholic School

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Grade 5 students at St. Paul Catholic School had the exciting opportunity to hear from the Mayor of Whitby, Elizabeth Roy, who was invited to speak to students as part of their social studies unit, Role of Government and Responsible Citizenship

Mayor Roy spoke about her duties as Mayor as well as the broader responsibilities of municipalities and town councils. She discussed the importance of local government in community planning, public services, and decision-making, including public consultations about proposed, public delegations at council meetings, and working collaboratively with councillors to address community needs. She also shared how she engages with families and young people in Whitby. Students were also able to ask questions about how local parks are created, why voting matters, and how they can make a difference in their community.

Thank you to Mayor Roy for sharing her time and expertise with our Grade 5 students.
