New DCDSB Pickering Catholic Elementary School to be Named St. Carlo Acutis Catholic School
We are pleased to share an exciting update regarding the new Catholic elementary school currently under construction at Hibiscus Drive and Burkholder Avenue in Pickering.
Following the community consultation and school naming process, we are honoured to announce that Frank Cardinal Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto, has provided his blessing for the proposed name, and that the Ministry of Education has confirmed the new school will be named St. Carlo Acutis Catholic School.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the naming process and shared thoughtful suggestions. Your engagement helped shape this important milestone as we continue to build a vibrant, faith-filled school community for the growing Seaton area.
Inspired by the life and witness of St. Carlo Acutis, the new school will serve as a place where students are encouraged to grow in faith, learning, and service while developing their God-given gifts. St. Carlo Acutis is an exemplary role model for young people as he reflected a deep love of God, a commitment to serving others, and a passion for sharing his faith. His example encourages students to use their gifts and talents to shine Christ's light in the world.
Construction updates and additional information about the new school will continue to be shared on our website. We look forward to welcoming students and families to St. Carlo Acutis Catholic School when it opens in September 2027.
