Reconnecting Through Nature: April with the St. Leo Catholic School Mental Health Club

During April, the St. Leo Catholic School Mental Health Club focused on reconnecting with the land and nurturing personal well-being. Students took part in a neighbourhood walk, using the outdoors as a calm and reflective space away from daily routines. The experience encouraged participants to slow down, observe their surroundings, and appreciate the restorative qualities of nature.

Throughout the activity, students practised mindfulness strategies including breathwork, grounding exercises, and engaging the five senses. These practices supported relaxation and helped settle both body and mind. The session concluded with a group reflection on the positive impact of time spent in nature on mental health, emphasizing that even brief moments outdoors can help with balance, connection, and overall well-being.
