Secondary Students Empowered Through Electricity Now

On May 12, Grade 9 students at Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School in Oshawa engaged in an exciting day of hands-on, career-connected learning through the Electricity Now program.

Organized through the school’s Library Learning Commons, students explored the world of electricity through interactive activities, including circuit creation, developed by educators from Electricity Now alongside industry representatives from Elexicon Energy. This experiential learning opportunity brought classroom concepts to life while highlighting real-world applications in the skilled trades.

Electricity Now is Canada’s first national, bilingual program designed for Grades 9 and 10, integrating electricity, climate change, and career exploration, developed to align with the Pan-Canadian Science Protocol and supports Ontario’s de-streamed Grade 9 Science curriculum. Through the program and hands on experiences, students not only deepened their understanding of scientific principles but also began to envision future pathways in energy and electrical careers.
