St. Bridget Catholic School Performs Annie Jr.

St. Bridget Catholic School in Brooklin put on performances of Annie Jr. from April 20 – April 24, 2026. Over these five days, students performed two matinees each day, and two evening shows, totalling 12 shows. Over the 12 days, there were 3,200 community members who attended the performances.

Students in Grade 4-8 were in the cast and crew. They began rehearsing on the first day of school in September of 2025, and practiced during recesses, lunch hours, after school, and even some Saturdays between the span of September 2025 to April 2026 to prepare for the shows. The students were the actors, dancers, singers, set crew, sound technicians, lighting crew, and created all the sets, props, and special effects.

St. Bridget Catholic School has put on an annual musical theatre performance for 20 years and has a rich history in the arts. We had former students (high school) who came back to help with acting, choreography, sound, and prop construction; parental and community support to see the two evening performances; teachers, who changed their schedules, worked with kids in performing, acting, and choreography.

Special thanks go to Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Gisana-Gay, Mrs. Lawrence, and Madame DaSilva for all their hard work towards creating a production that left an impact on the students; Mr. Bell, for his support towards the arts in our school; Mrs. Morrison, for her organizing of all our behind the scenes work that people don’t see; our school community, for supporting our production; to the students, for putting hard work and willing to take risks to showcase their talents to everyone.

"Witnessing the growth of these students from the very beginning of September to now has been nothing short of remarkable. Each step of this journey was filled with bravery, determination, and heart. So many of these students took courageous risks — trying new things, pushing past self‑doubt, and believing in themselves in ways they never had before. Through their dedication and willingness to grow, they uncovered talents and confidence that will stay with them long after the final curtain call.

What began as a small idea slowly blossomed into something truly extraordinary. Watching it grow into a powerful and meaningful production was a reminder of what can happen when young people are given space to create, belong, and shine. This experience became a beautiful act of community building, where grade levels faded away and students came together as one — lifting one another up, offering encouragement, and celebrating each other’s successes.

The sense of unity shared both onstage and behind the scenes was deeply moving. It allowed these students to present a performance filled with pride, passion, and purpose. Through their creativity, hearts, and unwavering commitment, they have continued to shape and strengthen the Arts at St. Bridget, leaving a legacy that will inspire future students for years to come.

Thank you to every student who gave their time, energy, and spirit to this journey. What you created together is something truly special — and you should be incredibly proud.” - Quote from Mr. Pugelj, Teacher, St. Bridget Catholic School
