St. John Bosco Catholic School Celebrates 25 Years of Faith, Learning, and Community

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, St. John Bosco Catholic School marked a significant milestone with a joyful anniversary Mass and celebration, bringing together students, staff, families, parish partners, elected officials and community members to honour 25 years of Catholic education.

The celebration began with a special Mass, where the school community gathered in faith and community. The school extends sincere thanks to Father David Twaddle for celebrating the Mass, and to the continued partnership with St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Appreciation was also shared for Chico Nuguid, Youth Minister at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, for joining in this meaningful occasion. The presence of parish partners highlighted the strong relationship that supports the spiritual life of the school.

Gratitude was also extended to the many staff, families, and community members whose commitment has helped shape St. John Bosco into the thriving community it is today. Since opening its doors in 2000, St. John Bosco Catholic School has grown and evolved alongside the Oshawa Catholic learning community. Originally built with nineteen classrooms, four portables, a library, a gymnasium with stage, change rooms, and various learning and support spaces, the school has also welcomed students from neighbouring schools such as St. Kateri Tekakwitha and St. Anne Catholic Schools during periods of growth and construction.

While many changes have taken place over the past 25 years, St.John Bosco consistently remains a vibrant, faith-filled community grounded in strong relationships and a commitment to student success. Inspired by its namesake, St. John Melchior Bosco, the patron saint of students and young people, the school continues to nurture the dignity and potential of every child. Don Bosco’s belief in educating with love, patience, and joy lives on in the daily experiences of students and staff.

As the school celebrates this important anniversary, heartfelt thanks are extended to the generations of students, families, and staff who have contributed to its rich history. Together, they have built a lasting legacy of faith, compassion, and hope, that continues to shape the future of Catholic education in Oshawa.
