St. Mary Catholic Secondary School Wrestling Team Sets New OFSAA Record

The St. Mary Catholic Secondary School wrestling team competed in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association (OFSAA) Provincial Championships in Peterborough, Ontario, delivering another historic and record‑breaking performance.

The team surpassed their own OFSAA record from last season by qualifying 31 wrestlers for the provincial championship. In the 52‑year history of OFSAA wrestling, no team has ever achieved this milestone. St. Mary Catholic Secondary School entered the tournament as the defending overall team champions. This year, they not only repeated as Overall Team Champions, but also captured the Overall Male and Overall Female Championships, sweeping all OFSAA titles. With these victories, St. Mary Catholic Secondary School becomes the only team in Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic’s 52‑year history to win all three major titles in the same season.

The medal winners were outstanding. Bronze medals were earned by Jacob L. and Kyelle H. Serenitee W. secured a silver medal. Three athletes captured OFSAA gold: Sofia F., Adsaya P., and Aaharen P., who is now a four‑time OFSAA Champion.

The coaching staff is extremely proud of every wrestler for their dedication, grit, and contributions to this historic success. The team extends a sincere thank‑you to the entire St. Mary Catholic Secondary School community and administrative team for their continuous support throughout the season.
