Students and Educators Explore Careers at Manufacturing Awareness Day
On Wednesday, November 12, students and guidance teachers from Ajax and Pickering secondary schools participated in a Manufacturing Awareness Day hosted by Shandex Group, a family-run business founded in Pickering. Attendees toured the company’s facility, which specializes in distributing private-label and branded products, while also managing its own distribution centres and a fleet of highway tractor-trailers.
The event offered students and educators an invaluable opportunity to gain first-hand insights into diverse manufacturing careers from industry experts and HR professionals. Participants also learned about the educational pathways and essential soft skills required to pursue a successful career in the manufacturing sector.
