Tanika iNsight Riley Empowers Students at St. Anne Catholic School
On Wednesday, February 4, St. Anne Catholic School had the honour of welcoming Tanika iNsight Riley, one of the 100 Accomplished Black Women in Canada (2020). Tanika led a powerful Black History Month presentation, titled, “Guardians of the Earth.”
Through music, storytelling, art, and audience participation, Tanika inspired students with stories of African and African‑Canadian environmental leaders who are protecting and healing our planet. Her message highlighted the values of Umoja (Unity), Ujima (Collective Work & Responsibility), Nia (Purpose), and Kuumba (Creativity), and how young people can use these principles to care for the planet.
Students left feeling energized, informed, and empowered to make positive change in their communities. A huge thank you to Tanika for sharing her wisdom, creativity, and passion with St. Anne Catholic School!
