The Sewing Studio Workshop at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School
On Tuesday, February 17, students at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School participated in sewing lessons with The Sewing Studio.
The Sewing Studio is an in-school sewing program that focuses on mentorship, confidence, inclusion, and equity. Led by Sewing Studio mentors, students were taught how to use a sewing machine. With their newly found skills, each student sewed spirals on paper while they learned the buttons on the machine and how to properly start and stop the machine. Once the task on paper was completed, students picked different colour fabrics and made their own cross-body pouches.
The workshop offered students a fun and engaging way to learn a new skill while fostering creativity, independence, and a sense of accomplishment.
