Help Shape DCDSB’s New Multi-Year Strategic Plan

As the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) approaches the conclusion of its current strategic plan, Inspire 2026, we are preparing to develop a new Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) that will guide our  priorities and direction for the years ahead.

The process to develop a new plan will be collaborative and inclusive, bringing together students, families, staff, parishes, advisory committees, and community partners. Together, we will build a shared vision that reflects our Catholic faith and commitment to student success, well-being, and excellence. Oversight of the process will be provided by the Multi-Year Strategic Plan Trustee Committee, co-led by the Chair of the Committee and Chief Executive Officer.

Feedback from students, families, staff, parishes, advisory committees, and community partners will help shape a shared vision for the future of Catholic education in Durham Region. To ensure broad and meaningful participation, a variety of engagement opportunities will be offered throughout the process. 

How the Strategic Planning Process Works

Review and reflection on the current Inspire 2026 strategic plan and preparation for the new Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

Initial community engagement with staff, students, families, parishes, union partners, statutory/advisory committees, and community parters to gather input and perspectives.  

We are gathering input on key priorities, including: 

  • Faith formation 
  • Student achievement 
  • Mental health and well-being 
  • Faith formation 
  • Human rights, equity and inclusion
  • Indigenous education 
  • Learning environments 

Your feedback will shape the foundation of the plans. We invite you to participate by completing our Multi-Year Strategic Plan Survey.

Development of draft strategic pillars, priorities, and themes based on community feedback and data analysis. This phase will also include a second round of community engagement to gather feedback on the draft plan and ensure it reflects the needs and aspirations of the DCDSB community.

We will:

  • Identify strategic pillars and key priorities
  • Share the draft priorities and gather community feedback
  • Refine the draft plan based on community input

Finalization and approval of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan by the Board of Trustees.  

  • Complete the final Multi-Year Strategic Plan
  • Present to the Board of Trustees for approval 

Implementation, monitoring, and annual review to ensure accountability and progress. 

The Multi-Year Strategic Plan guides: 

  • Strategic decision-making
  • Budget development and resource allocation
  • Program and service planning
  • Policy and system decisions 

About the Plan

The Multi-Year Strategic Plan is a roadmap that: 

  • Guides decision-making and system priorities 
  • Aligns efforts across schools and departments 
  • Ensures accountability and responsible stewardship 

In alignment with the Ontario Education Act, the Multi-Year Strategic Plan will: 

  • Promote student achievement and well-being; 
  • Promote a positive school climate that is inclusive and accepting of all pupils, including pupils of any race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status or disability; 
  • Promote the prevention of bullying; 
  • Ensure effective stewardship of the board’s resources; and 
  • Deliver effective and appropriate education programs to its pupils.
