Boundary Review Process

Boundary Policy

In accordance with the board’s School Attendance Policy (PO-415), a proposed boundary is established for each Catholic elementary and secondary school within the board's jurisdiction to foster neighborhood or community-based schools. Each school boundary is designed to encompass a sufficient geographic area to support the long-term operation of the school at a full or near full capacity.

Where possible, school boundaries will be bounded by readily identifiable geographic features for example, major roads and highways, railroad lines, parks, major open space areas, utility corridors, rights-of-way, watercourses, municipal and regional boundaries, and rear lot lines.

Per policy requirements, staff must present proposed boundaries to the Board of Trustees. The Board then provides “In Principle” approval, allowing the community consultation process to proceed with a draft set of boundaries for review and feedback from affected school communities.

After gathering input through community meetings, a final boundary report is submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval.
