Christmas Message from the Chair of the Board and Director of Education (1)
Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
As we approach the final days of the Advent season, we look forward with joy to the coming of the Lord. Over the past four weeks, we have been invited to engage in a journey of reflection, gratitude, and preparation. In the lighting of each of the candles of the Advent wreath, we have stepped closer to the love of God made flesh in the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. May we all be ready to welcome him with open hearts at Christmas.
December has been a joyful time in our schools as our students, staff and communities have been involved in Christmas concerts, food and clothing drives, charitable and community service initiatives, along with many other exciting activities. We are truly grateful for the opportunities we have had to come together as a Catholic learning community to celebrate the spirit of the Advent season.
This time of year can be very busy, and may be mentally or emotionally draining. We encourage all in our Durham Catholic community to practice self-care, and to prioritize spiritual, physical, and social-emotional well-being.
To help support faith formation at home, we have compiled a list of resources and activities for families to participate in during these final days of Advent. We encourage you to visit our website at dcdsb.ca/Advent to access these resources.
To our community members of different faith traditions or beliefs, may this holiday season be one of joy and love as you connect with family and friends.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Senior Administrative Team, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We look forward to seeing students, staff and families in the new year when school resumes on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Yours in Faith,
Monique Forster Tracy Barill
Chair of the Board Director of Education
