DCDSB Celebrates the Election of Pope Leo XIV

Habemus Papam! We are blessed to witness the election of Pope Leo XIV. 

The Durham Catholic District School Board joins the global Catholic community to celebrate our new Holy Father. May he be a beacon of hope for us all, as he leads us in faith, hope and love.

We offer this prayer from our Durham Catholic learning community as Pope Leo XIV begins his leadership as the Supreme Pontiff: 

God of Joy,
We offer our heartfelt gratitude for the election of Pope Leo XIV.
As we welcome him to his new role, we continue to give thanks for the leadership and guidance of Pope Francis and ask for your blessing upon his successor.
We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide the Church, and that our new Pope will be a shepherd of wisdom, holiness, and love.
May Pope Leo XIV be a compassionate minister to all in need and a unifying presence in our world.
We ask this through Christ our Risen Lord, who lives and reigns with You.
Amen.
