DCDSB Student Trustee Elections

Durham Catholic Student Trustees are the voice of our student population and bring comments and ideas to the Board of Trustees. Durham Catholic District School Board  two Student Trustees are elected for a one-year term, beginning in September and ending in June. 

The process for selecting Student Trustees begins in February of each year. To learn more about becoming a Student Trustee watch our video and contact current Student Trustees at DCDSB Student Trustees and Student Council. 

STUDENT TRUSTEE ELECTION PROCESS 2023-2024

1. Any Durham Catholic District School Board student who is qualified to act as a Student Trustee may declare their candidacy for such a position by submitting a Student Trustee Candidacy Declaration Form to Superintendent Stevenson, Resource to the Catholic Student Senate. The Candidacy Form is available on the Board website and must be emailed to lori.jones@dcdsb.ca by Friday, April 14, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. Please let St. Mary Vice-Principal Ms. Kettrick know you have submitted a Candidacy form. 

2. The date of the election will be Monday, April 24, 2023 during the regularly scheduled Student Senators’ Meeting (approximately 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Times will be determined based on the number of candidates. Candidates will be contacted with a scheduled time.

3. Each candidate standing for office shall be given an opportunity to deliver a speech which shall not exceed five minutes in length. Student Senators will then ask candidates a few questions.
