Durham Catholic District School Board Trustees Elect Chair and Vice-Chair for 2024

The Annual Board Meeting of the Durham Catholic District School Board took place on November 27, 2023. His Excellency, Bishop Vincent Nguyen, presided over Mass where Trustees participated in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and reaffirmed their commitment to service through their Rite of Renewal of Roman Catholic Trustees. The election of the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board followed.

Monique Forster, Trustee for the Town of Ajax, was re-elected to the position of Chair of the Board for 2024.

“I have had the honour of serving my fellow Trustees in our Catholic community. I want to express my gratitude to my colleagues for continuing to place their trust in me,” said Chair Forster. “I serve from a place of genuine dedication to Catholic education, and to the students, families and communities we are here to serve. I am encouraged by the work of the board in diversity, equity and inclusion, and the dignity of the human person.” 

Richard Damianopoulos, Trustee for the Townships of Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock, was elected for the position of Vice-Chair for 2024.

Vice-Chair Damianopoulos thanked fellow trustees for their support, “it is truly an honour to be able to serve you as Vice-Chair. As we embark on the beginning of the second year of our mandate, it is an opportunity to reflect on the enormity of the task before us. Our job is to build up the community of faith around us.”

On behalf of the Board’s Senior Administrative Team, Tracy Barill, Director of Education extended congratulations to Chair Forster and Vice-Chair Damianopoulos.

“We are grateful for the dedication and leadership of our Durham Catholic Trustees and look forward to serving with Chair Forster and Vice-Chair Damianopoulos in the year ahead,” said Director Barill. “Their leadership is integral to the Durham Catholic District School Board, as we carry out our mission to be an inclusive Catholic learning community that inspires every student to achieve their full potential through faith and education.”
