Grade 11 Students Participate in On the Land Learning
On Tuesday, May 21, Grade 11 students from St. Mary Catholic Secondary School participated in on the land learning with community partner, Beedahbin Peltier. Beedahbin talked to the students about invasive versus Indigenous plants, and discussed human participation in the ecosystem and forest management. As the class explored the surrounding area of their school, Beedahbin showed the students how to recognize plants, including how to identify poison ivy. During the outdoor exploration, the Grade 11 students saw a snake! The exploration was insightful for the class and this learning helped strengthen students' relationships with the earth and local ecosystems.
