Grade 7 and 8 Students Participate in the Annual Young Women in Science, Technology and Trades Conference
On April 24 and 25, Grade 7 and 8 students from Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School participated in the annual Young Women in Science, Technology and Trades Conference hosted by Durham College.
The day started with an inspirational keynote speaker and welder, Promise Lafrance. Afterwards, students were divided into groups where they participated in hands-on activities, such as building circuits, testing torque on nuts and bolts, disassembling and assembling a furnace, wiring a furnace control panel and thermostat, and many more. Students were very inspired by the keynote speaker as well as the workshop presenters, who were all females.
Thank you to Durham College for hosting this wonderful event and getting our girls to talk more about trades. This initiative was funded by OYAP.
