Mrs. Wheeler's Weekly Update-
THE WEEKLY UPDATE -January 27th,
2023 Dear Parents/Guardians of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School,
This week, we are honouring Bell Let’s Talk Day which occurred on January 25th. There are many resources that we are accessing from School Mental Health Assist and in the months ahead, we will continue to learn more about what being a supportive community looks like, sounds like and feels like. Here are some key messages that we continue to keep front of mind in our daily experiences
Next week our focus on Kindness at classroom and school-levels will be shared. Every piece of research and reading I have accessed talks about how gratitude, taking the time to be kind and celebrate kindness is a protective factor with mental health. Stay tuned!
This upcoming Monday January 30th, we will be having our January 2023 Catholic School Council Meeting. Topics will include school updates, plans for the Lenten Season as well as preparations for Black History Month. Please send an email to Setoncelebrates@dcdsb.ca if you would like a link to the meeting. All are most welcome!
A few safety reminders:
• Please continue to check DSTS and our school Parent EDSBY for transportation updates. If the buses are cancelled, they remain cancelled for the entire day
• If you are changing the normal pick-up routine for your child during the school day, please directly contact our school Office as the Classroom Teacher may not get the opportunity to check his/her EDSBY messages during the instructional day
• Thank you for continuing to use the morning Kiss and Ride in a safe manner. We have over 100 vehicles every morning from 7:45-8:00 am and it runs smoothly because of the strong routines we have in place. Once the bell rings at 8 am, the exterior door located directly in front of the zebra crossing remains open and supervised for roughly 5 minutes. After the zebra crossing door closes, parents need to ensure that all late students access the school from the main school entrance. We have our Secretary Mrs. Visco in the front foyer until Morning Announcements have concluded at approximately 8:15 am.
As the month of January comes to a close, may God continue to bless our Seton school and family.
Mrs. Wheeler, Principal
