Mrs. Wheeler's Weekly Update June 19th, 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School,

It has been another busy week at Seton! Field trips to outdoor education, preparations for next week , tracing silhouettes for our Grade Eight soon-to-be Graduates, Appreciation Luncheons, and celebrating our students who participated in the Regional Track Meet at St. Mary’s. Congratulations to our athletes moving on to the Tournament of Champions this week!

In May, I had shared with you some reminders around Dress Code from our Pickering Family of Schools Principal meeting. Now that the summer weather may actually be arriving, a respectful reminder that students and staff are required to dress appropriately for the activity they are participating in. Graphics, logos and styles must be reflective of both our Catholic school environment and the values of our multicultural society. I want to thank our students who have been doing an amazing job of doing a personal review before leaving for school each day, appreciating that there is a perfectly appropriate clothing choice for every setting. For example, wearing crocs is about comfort, but we don’t wear them for gym. The catwalk for Chanel shows midriffs and spaghetti straps; stunning looks for outside of school. Hoodies and ball caps get worn outside. As well, thank you for continuing to send in a reusable water bottle and promoting sunscreen.

We will be gathering for our Year-End Assembly of the school year on Tuesday June 27th at 12 pm. We welcome all our families who are able to join us for this special event. We will have the classic year-end slideshow and the opportunity to celebrate as well as say goodbye to some special folks. The vast majority of our Seton Staff are returning for 2023/2024 and for the upcoming weekly message, I will update the community on staff whose year-long assignments have concluded, or staff who are changing schools for the upcoming school year. At this juncture, I would like to share that Mrs. Dearness will be retiring at the end of this academic year. Mrs. Dearness, thank you for your contributions to the Seton family these many years. You will be truly missed, especially by our second floor.

On behalf of the entire staff, Happy Father’s Day to all our Seton dads! Enjoy your day and God bless you in your important work as fathers.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wheeler, Principal
