Mrs. Wheeler's Weekly Update - May 29th, 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School,
This past Friday was an amazing day for our Seton families as our Grades 3-8 students enjoyed our school-based Track Meet at St. Mary’s CSS. For this event to have gone so smoothly is a reflection of our students, our amazing Volunteers, and the Staff of Seton all pulling together in the same direction. A special note of appreciation to Coach Goddard for the hours of planning and ensuring that the facilities were ready for us. Congratulations to all students for participating, cheering each other on, and enjoying the time outside.
As the weather improves, classes are spending more time outdoors, including the block following afternoon recess. A friendly safety reminder to parents to please remain off the school yard. As our school has the community path directly behind us, the yard is not fenced off in the back. Remaining on the paved path at the back of the school is a great option and ensures that it is only staff and students on the yard. We continue the practice of Teachers NOT dismissing their classes from outside at the end of the day. My direction to Classroom Teachers is that students be dismissed from inside the school. The Office gets last-minute messages around student pick-up and having everybody dismiss from inside the building at the end of the day ensures safety and allows for any safety announcements to be heard by all. If you are needing to change the normal pick-up/drop-off routine for your child, thank you for communicating this to the Office. Teachers frequently are not able to check their EDSBY during the instructional day.
A few attachments for this week, as our families turn to summer planning:
1. The approved 2023/2024 Academic Calendar, Elementary from the DCDSB
2. The link for Camp Veritas, from St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church: https://stisaacjogues.ca/events/camp-veritas
3. Great learning and fun activities from the Pickering Public Library
God bless our Seton family, and we wish our Grade 3 and Grade 6 Students good luck as they begin their EQAO Assessments!
