St. Bernadette's Christmas Boutique
The St. Bernadette Catholic School community really came together to provide a full two days of shopping for our students! Through the spirit of giving during the Christmas season, our school proudly supports and helps out families that may be going through some difficult financial times every year through our Christmas Families campaign. This year, to raise funds to help families in need in our school community, we offered a two-day shopping experience to all of our students!
Our Learning Commons transformed into a Christmas Store and was open December 7-8, 2023. Each classroom teacher from Kindergarten to Grade 8 signed up for a 20-minute shopping time. Keeping the three R’s in mind (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) we reached out to our own staff and Catholic School Council for donations of household items they were no longer needing or using, ready to pass along for a new person to enjoy! Instead of ending up in landfill, these items went on sale for either $1.00- $3.00.
Our student shoppers had a real-life, practical shopping experience where they were able to use financial literacy skills, and purchase a thoughtful gift for a family member at home- the purchases were even gift wrapped at checkout, and ready to be placed under the tree at home. Smiling faces were everywhere as students bought and wrapped amazing treasures to share with their loved ones at home, all the while contributing to help make the Christmas of many of our families a little brighter this year!
A very special thank you to the aptly named Ms. Joly's (Junior and Senior) who jolly-fully volunteered countless hours preparing, organizing and running our very successful Christmas Store in support of our Christmas Families. A special blessing to everyone this Christmas season, but especially those that may need a little more love and compassion.
