St. Mary Students Proud to Serve at Canadian Food for Children
The St. Mary Catholic Secondary School school motto is "Amare et Servire", meaning 'To Love and to Serve', and that is what students did at Canadian Food for Children.
St. Mary students, including Non-Profit SHSM students, travelled to Etobicoke on September 27th with donations for Canadian Food for Children, a Catholic charity run by Dr. Simone that seeks to feed the poor in many developing countries around the world. They had an opportunity to volunteer in the warehouse by preparing newsletters, packing vegetable seeds, sorting canned food donations and packing a shipping container that was destined for Peru, South America.
St. Mary C.S.S. has been collecting donations for, and volunteering with, Canadian Food for Children for almost 20 years.
Students are encouraged to drop off donations of gently used clothing, shoes and eyeglasses to Mr. Cecillon in the Guidance department, and community service hours can be provided per bag (no furniture or book donations please).
Canadian Food for Children is run almost entirely through the efforts of volunteers and welcomes donations and volunteers: https://www.canadianfoodforchildren.net/
