St. Mary Wresting celebrates LOSSA Championships and LOSSA/OFSAA Medalists
What an amazing season the St. Mary Wrestling Team had this year. Only in its second year of the program the team had many accomplishments and was the top team in Durham Region and one of the top teams in the Province.
At the LOSSA championship the team took home more medals than any other school in our region!
The following wrestlers medaled in their respected weight class.
3rd place bronze:

Not only did we qualify the most OFSAA representatives but St. Mary won both the Male overall and Female overall Championship for the region. In the history of the school St.Mary has never won this Championship.
The OFSAA provincial championship took place in Ottawa before the March Break. St. Mary sent 14 wrestlers in total having one of the largest qualifying teams in the province and coming home with the school first 2 medals in the schools history.
Adsaya P won a silver medal in a very intense battle.
Aaharen P won a gold medal. Aaharen is only in grade 9 competing against other males grade 9-12 in his weight class. He had one of the fastest technical submissions in OFSAA history winning 10-0 in only 30 seconds!!
Watch out for these two athletes they both have very bright futures ahead of them.
Winning a medal at an OFSAA individual event is extremely difficult. Many of our wrestlers made it so close to the medal rounds and we are so proud of this entire team. At OFSAA, St. Mary Wrestlers were amazing!
- 5th overall in team points
- 5th overall in the boys division
- 1st overall in Technical submissions out of approximately 150 total schools competing.
The coaches are extremely proud of this fine group of student athletes. Our graduating grade 12 students contributed so much to our team and our success and will be greatly missed. The coaches will be going around the school and visiting our sports teams in the spring as we are looking for new recruits to join the wrestling program to keep our success going. Any interested students please reach out to Mr. Antonucci on Edsby. No past experience required just hard work and dedication and commitment!! Special thanks to Coaches Ortencio and Dodds for all their time and effort with the team and Mrs Navarro and Mr Paternel for their help and support this season!
