St. Monica Catholic School Hosts Youth Empowerment and Black Excellence Career Carousel

This month, St. Monica School, in collaboration with the school's Anti-Black Racism Committee, proudly hosted a special event to honour Black Excellence.  Pathways:  Youth Empowerment and Black Excellence Career Carousel was a vibrant and inspiring event designed to highlight the achievements, leadership, and lived experiences of Black professionals within our community. The Carousel brought students together with a diverse group of guest speakers who generously shared their journeys, challenges, successes, and career pathways. From skilled trades and business owners to health, education, arts, and public service professionals, our visitors offered students an authentic window into the many possibilities that await them.
The carousel format throughout St Monica created a dynamic environment where presenters rotated through presentations, asked questions, and engaged in meaningful dialogue. By hearing directly from Black professionals, our students were able to see themselves reflected in a variety of fields, helping to build confidence, broaden aspirations, and deepen understanding of the important contributions Black Canadians make to our society. This experience aligns beautifully with St Monica's ongoing commitment to equity, representation, and student empowerment.
Heartfelt gratitude was shared to the incredible guest speakers whose presence made this event so impactful.
Events like the Black Career Carousel remind us why we celebrate Black History Month - not only to honour the past, but to inspire the future. Thank you to everyone who made this day possible and memorable for our students at St. Monica School.
