Students Attend Dreamer Day 2025
On Thursday, October 23, 70 female students in Grades 9-12 took part in Dreamer Day 2025 at the Enercare Centre in Toronto. This day was dedicated to empowering female students in fields such as skilled trades, STEAM, emergency response, entrepreneurship, and leadership through exploring exhibitor booths packed with interactive activities, career opportunities, and the latest industry insights.
Exhibitors, such as Enbridge, Spark Power and Enercare engaged directly with the students, sparking inspiration and showcasing potential career paths. Students were given the opportunity to work with electrical circuits and outlets, change a tire, weld, plumbing, brick work and masonry, and virtual crane and tractor simulation.
As part of the event, there was The Dreamer Day Awards ceremony, which recognized students who have shown incredible merit, character, and resilience while chasing their dreams in male-dominated industries. These awards focused on students who’ve overcome challenges, made a positive impact on their community, and shown true passion for their goals in STEAM, the skilled trades, or emergency response. Each award winner received a $1,000 scholarship to support their journey. Ariel M., a Grade 12 student from St. Mary Catholic Secondary School, was awarded one of the two scholarship awards based on her personal essay submission. Congratulations, Ariel!
This event was an Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) funded initiative.
