The Weekly Update - March 27th, 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School:
It is hard to believe that this upcoming Sunday is Palm Sunday, the beginning of the most holy week in our Church calendar. As we plan for our Holy Thursday Liturgies, Classroom Teachers are today reviewing the Gospel story from yesterday’s Mass, the raising of Lazarus and how Jesus then left and began the journey to Jerusalem. This is a brief clip about Palm Sunday:

As we move towards Holy Week, we will be looking at the Stations of the Cross and remember to keep practising the values of Lent: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving.
For those of you in the school volunteering or dropping items to the Office, you may have noticed that Mrs. Wnuk is no longer in the Office as she has begun her leave. It was lovely hearing many parents sharing best wishes and advice about getting a lot of sleep before the baby arrives! Today, we are welcoming Ms. Crupi, who will be working half-days in the Office as Mrs. Visco is now in the full-time role. Welcome Ms. Crupi, you are joining an amazing school community!
March 31st is Indigenous Language Day, and we are taking an opportunity this week to further our commitments to learning. On March 29th and 31st, we are having consultants from our Indigenous Education Department return to our school to share learning in our Primary classrooms. As well, I am pleased to share that we are this week hosting a photo exhibit from Trent University entitled “We are all Indigenous: Breaking down stereotypes in the 21st Century’.
As well, with April 2nd falling on the weekend, the Durham Catholic District School Board will celebrate World Autism Day on Thursday March 30th – please wear your blue with pride.
A reminder to send an email to Setoncelebrates@dcdsb.ca if you would like a link to our March Catholic School Council Meeting occurring at 6:30 pm this evening.
God bless our Seton family,
Mrs. Wheeler, Principal
