What's the fastest growing sport in the G.T.A?...CRICKET!
On Tuesday, June 6th approximately 140 elementary students from gr. 5 to 8 participated in DECA's first post pandemic DECA Cricket Tournament at the Whitby Indoor Dome.
Enthusiastic students from St. Isaac Jogues, St. John Bosco, St. Monica, St. Bernadette, St. Andre Bessette, St. Mark, Msgr. Philip Coffey, St. Catherine of Siena, Father Fenelon, St. Francis de Sales, played 4 matches each and had a chance to bowl and bat and show their Cricket skills.
Thanks goes out to the teachers from these schools that attended cricket workshops and in-school training sessions to learn the skills and rules of this sport so the students at their school would have this opportunity.
A special "Shout-Out" goes out to Notre Dame students Matthew and Daniel that helped umpire matches as well as our passionate DECA Cricket Coordinator, Michael Jacobs who organized and hosted this event.
We hope that more DCDSB schools will take this popular and growing sport on next year.
