DCPIC - May 2025 Newsletter Dear Parents and Guardians,  The latest issue of the Durham Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (DCPIC) newsletter is now available. This issue of the newsletter includes: A Message from the Chair; DCPIC Parent/Guardian Survey; A recap of Youth and Mental Health Night; 2024-2025 Distinguished Catholic Volunteer Award Recipients; and Follow DCPIC on Instagram! As a friendly reminder, the DCPIC is conducting a parent/guardian survey that will assist in setting the committee’s direction for the 2025-2026 school year.

Student Walk for Hope in Support of the Durham Catholic Children’s Foundation Schools across the Durham Catholic District School Board will be participating in the Student Walk for Hope in support of the Durham Catholic Children’s Foundation in June 2025! Students and staff are invited to donate “virtual” toonies to support Durham Catholic Children’s Foundation initiatives. Funds collected will assist the Foundation in helping children and families in the Durham Catholic District School Board.

2024-2025 DCPIC Parent/Guardian Survey Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers, The Durham Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (DCPIC) is a parent-led advisory committee working within the Durham Catholic District School Board. The committee is conducting a parent/guardian survey that will assist in setting the committee’s direction for the 2025-2026 school year.

DCDSB Secondary Students Champion Mental Health Initiatives at Durham TAMI Summit On Thursday, May 8, DCDSB secondary students gathered at Ontario Shores for the Durham Talking About Mental Illness (TAMI) summit. This event provided a platform for students to showcase the mental health and well-being initiatives they have championed throughout the year at their schools.

DCDSB Hosts Inaugural Student Human Rights Conference On May 8, we were excited to have Grade 9-12 students from all Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) secondary schools attend our inaugural Student Human Rights Conference! The conference was titled The Strength of Us: Advancing Human Rights with Courage, Compassion, and Conviction. Students enjoyed a day of learning, including workshops, networking and mentorship.

BWell Student Mental Health and Well-Being Leadership Team Year-End Celebration On May 6, DCDSB’s secondary student mental health and well-being leadership team, BWell, gathered at the Pope Francis Centre for a year-end celebration. Students showcased the work they implemented in the 2024-2025 school year and participated in self-care and wellness activity stations including rock painting, creating their own slime, and a mindfulness walk.
