Claremont On Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 11, members of the Indigenous Student Circle experienced an immersive overnight experience at Claremont Nature Centre.
Students began their time by taking part in team building activities led by the Claremont staff. FLJAOn Monday, April 22, Ms. Duval and Ms. Dobo’s Grade 9 Science classes at Father Leo J. Austin Catholic Secondary School explored the environment with community partner, Ben Marshall. Ben provided learning about the health of the forest around the school. He demonstrated ways to test soil, spoke about the healthiness and age of the forest. St John XXIIIOn Monday, April 15, Mr. Cusma’s Grade 5 class at St. John XXIII Catholic School tested water in the local creek with community partner, Ben Marshall. Ben taught the students how to identify insects to determine the biodiversity and healthy of the water. The students were very hands-on, and they conducted water sampling, identification, area clean up and data collection.
