Students Explore the Trades

Posted On Tuesday March 10, 2020

Students from All Saints and Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic Secondary Schools attend a Skilled Trades Careers Fair on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Henry Street High School. The joint event organized by VPI Working Solutions, the Durham Catholic District School Board and Durham District School Board provided students with an opportunity to explore career pathways and talk directly to employers.

During the fair, students learned about the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program and how the work program provides students with an opportunity to work in apprenticeship occupations in Grade 11 or 12 through the Cooperative Education program.

Employers such as the Toronto Zoo, Local Unions, General Motors, Canadian Armed Forces, HTS Services and others spoke to students and offered information on they can begin an apprenticeship, while working full-time in the trades.
